In the two opposing sides of the globe, Christmas dinner meals differ due to the fact that the staple food on both sides are also largely varied. In the western side of the globe, the main dish for a Christmas dinner usually contains roasted meat such as turkey, chicken, beef or lamb. Breads such as butter tarts and fruitcake, and pies such as apple pie and pumpkin pie are also staple dishes of the Christmas dinner feast. Wine or beer is the common beverage that is present on the dinner table of the western culture in celebration of Christmas.

In the eastern part of the globe which is mostly composed of Asian nations, the common dishes served on the dinner table are those which are native cuisines of their own country. Christmas ham is the popular meat delicacy that is presented on the dinner table during Christmas Eve. Short cakes and rice cakes are the common desserts available in the eastern Christmas dinner table. Beer is the beverage that is widely available for consumption during Christmas dinner while children enjoy fruit juices or carbonated soda.
In some households, eastern and western dishes meet in harmony on the Christmas dinner table. This is especially popular on homes whose ancestry is rich in cultural differences. Thus, to maintain the tradition that has been in the family for many generations, they try to keep on serving dishes from two different backgrounds to delight yearnings for either meal themes.
In the sharing tradition of Christmas dinner, the food on the table is not the only reason why celebrating Christmas is joyous. What is really important is having the time to spend with your family and sharing the blessings that you achieved with one another.
